Building Confidence. Building Skills. Building the Next Generation.
A fun, supportive introduction to archery for young people in Monroe and the surrounding communities.
ABOUT
Building Confidence, Skills & a Love for Archery
The South Central Wisconsin Archery Club (SCWA) youth program has been an important part of our club since nearly its inception more than 40 years ago. What started as a small group of club members bringing their kids to learn the sport, typically just 10–20 young archers, has grown into one of the most exciting parts of our club.
In recent years, we've welcomed around 60 young archers each season, and today, that number has grown to approximately 100 youth participants (about 50% boys and 50% girls)!
Our youth program provides young archers, from approximately ages 7-18, with instruction, coaching, and hands-on experience to develop their archery skills in a fun and encouraging environment. A full round takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to shoot. Young archers that participate in the youth program range in ability from being very good, to never picking up a bow before starting the program. The youth shoot the yardage that is approximate for their aptitude and not based on their age.
New to archery? No problem! SCWA provides beginning archers with the use of our youth bows and arrows while they learn the fundamentals of the sport. As young archers develop their skills and become more invested in archery, we encourage and help them transition into equipment of their own.
Our youth season runs for approximately 13 weeks, beginning in mid-December and running through mid-February. The season wraps up with our annual Youth Banquet and Awards Ceremony, which is a special night attended by nearly 200 family members, coaches, volunteers, and supporters as we celebrate the accomplishments of our young archers.
There is nothing more rewarding than watching these kids learn a new skill, build confidence, make friends and most importantly, have fun with archery.

SPONSOR A YOUTH
The Youth Sponsor Membership allows a young person to become an SCWA member when their parent or guardian does not wish to become a member themselves. A current SCWA member can sponsor a youth member and accept responsibility for ensuring the youth member follows club rules and policies.
There is no additional membership fee for the youth member.
-
A current SCWA member serves as the sponsor. The sponsor agrees to accept responsibility for the youth member while they are on club property and to help ensure they understand and follow SCWA's rules, policies and safety requirements.
The youth member has their own membership. The youth is not added to the sponsor's membership.
Youth members have their own club work requirements. Required work hours must be completed to maintain an active membership.
Youth members under age 16 do not receive key privileges.
The sponsor's membership is not affected if the youth member's membership is terminated for failing to follow club rules or requirements.
-
Youth Sponsor Members are expected to follow all SCWA rules and policies and complete the required club work hours.
If the required work hours are not completed during the calendar year, the youth member must pay for a regular membership to maintain their membership with SCWA.
-
A Youth Sponsor Member must transition to a regular membership when they reach age 18.
If the member is 18 and still attending high school, a regular membership will be required the year following their high school graduation.
Our Youth Sponsor Membership is a great way for young archers to become involved in SCWA, develop their skills and become part of our archery community, even when their parents or guardians aren't club members.
-
Any current SCWA member can sponsor a young person, including a niece or nephew, neighbor, family friend, coworker's child or another young archer who wants to be part of the club.
